Flooring Company for Eastbourne

Carpets and Flooring in Eastbourne

Park Flooring is an Eastbourne flooring company in the plainest sense: the shop is in Hampden Park, the two people who run it have spent 29 years fitting floors in the trade, and the van rarely needs to leave the town. Carpets, luxury vinyl tile, laminate and sheet vinyl, measured in your home, supplied from the mills we know and fitted by us.

Eastbourne is really several towns in one, and the houses in each part want different things from a floor. That is what this page is about.

The housing stock

The Houses in Eastbourne

The seafront and Meads are the grand end: tall Victorian and Edwardian villas and terraces, many now divided into flats, with high ceilings, long halls, staircases that turn twice and original floorboards that have moved a little over a hundred years. Old Town, around the parish church, is older still, with flint cottages and early terraces on narrow plots. Upperton, Roselands and the streets behind Seaside are the classic Victorian and Edwardian terrace, two rooms deep with a straight hall running past the stairs.

Hampden Park, Ratton and Willingdon were built mostly between the wars and just after: semis, chalet bungalows and detached family houses with square rooms, suspended timber floors and the bay windows that make a carpet colour read differently at each end of the room. Langney and Shinewater are the post war and later estates, with chipboard floors upstairs and concrete slabs down.

Then there is Sovereign Harbour, built from the 1990s around the marina: modern houses and apartments with open plan ground floors, screeded slabs and, often, underfloor heating. A floor here is usually one long run from the kitchen to the doors onto the water.

Carpets and Carpet Fitters in Eastbourne

Carpet is still the floor for most Eastbourne bedrooms, living rooms and stairs, and the Victorian houses in Upperton and Meads are where our carpet fitters do their most careful work: long halls with a seam that has to disappear, staircases with two turns of winders, landings that wrap round the stairwell. A dense wool twist over a proper underlay is what we fit there.

In the flats along the seafront a hard wearing, stain resistant twist is often the better choice, and the same goes for the rental properties that make up so much of the town. We fit for landlords and letting agents across Eastbourne, between tenants, quickly and properly.

LVT Flooring in Eastbourne

Luxury vinyl tile is the floor Eastbourne is asking for most, and the photographs on this page show why: this whole ground floor, latex levelled and laid in an oak effect plank through the kitchen, living room and hall, is one of ours, in Eastbourne.

It suits the town's older houses because the levelling makes an uneven ground floor flat, and it suits Sovereign Harbour because glue down LVT is the best floor there is over underfloor heating. Herringbone in the hall, planks through the kitchen, no thresholds in between.

Vinyl and Laminate Flooring in Eastbourne

Sheet vinyl goes into Eastbourne kitchens, bathrooms and utility rooms every week, in one piece wherever the room fits within the roll, sealed at the bath and the units. It is the floor we recommend most for the town's rental flats, because it is quick, waterproof and easy to keep.

Laminate is the practical choice for a busy family living room in Hampden Park or Langney, and for a home office where a chair on castors would mark a softer floor. We fit it with the right underlay and wear class for the room, and we will tell you when a room would be better in LVT.

Stairs and Landings in Eastbourne

Stairs are a speciality in Eastbourne: runners with rods on the painted staircases of Old Town and Meads, fully fitted carpet on the family flights in Hampden Park, both cut and folded around every winder. Where a hall runs into an open plan extension in Ratton or Willingdon, we finish the stair carpet neatly against the hall floor so the two meet without a lip.

How a Job Runs in Eastbourne

Being local is most of it. You can call into the shop at Hampden Park with a photograph of the room, take samples home the same day and have us out to measure that week. We know the parking on the seafront and the permit streets around the town centre, and we plan the fitting day around them.

The quote is free and in writing, it covers the underlay, the gripper, the trims and the fitting, and we will beat any genuine written quote from another Eastbourne flooring company.
